| Roy Slaven and HG Nelson may not be on television this Olympics, or even in Beijing, but they will still be on the radio airwaves (and on the internet) every day during the Games. You can hear the team behind The Dream in their special half-hour drive-time Olympics update, The Golden Ring, from 4.30pm AEST daily for the duration on Triple J. Meantime, you can hear some funny business from HG here at The Australian. | ![]() |

Am I the only person in Australia who doesn't find these 2 gentlemen even remotely funny ? They were mildly amusing 15 years ago but,in my humble opinion, have long outstayed their welcome.
Why do the vast majority of Australian Comedy acts insist on flogging their particular idea to death until everyone loses interest. The Comedy Company,Steve Vizard,Con the Fruitier,Effie,Kylie Mole,Mick Molloy,John Howard and Peter Costello etc etc
In comedy, less is so often better than more. They did only make 12 Fawlty Towers after all.
I must say I'm a
I must say I'm a born-again Roy and HG fan. I hadn't heard an episode of This Sporting Life for the best part of a decade until I came to Shanghai. Now, I listen to the podcast every week and laugh myself silly - even though I haven't much interest at all in sport. Perhaps it's a product of nostalgia and homesickness, but I really can't do without them.
Time to come home
Time to come home mate...you've obviously been away far too long !
Time to move on, for
Time to move on, for sure.
