Jamie comes home

Jamie Dunn is back on the air in Brisbane, with 4BC, where he says he'll address the serious issues. To do well, Dunn will have to win listeners from Triple M, where his former colleague Ian Skippen captains The Cage, and 612 ABC, both of which draw the older listeners BC covets. Dunn may also pull some listeners from 97.3FM, 4KQ, 4BH and even his old station, B105, although its likely that all his old fans have already defected the youth-oriented station. Also of interest to channel hoppers this week is the fact that husband and wife Stav and Katrina Davidson will be squaring off against each other (and Dunn) in the breakfast shift. Katrina is keeping Spencer Howson's seat warm at 612 ABC for one more week while Stav (real name: Stewart) is a permanent part of the B105 breakfast team.
Usual disclosure applies

Ahh the Brisbane radio

Ahh the Brisbane radio market... the more it changes, the more it stays the same.

Personally I'd really like to see Dunn do well, and form a sort of a "John Laws cabal-esque" empire in Qld. There's certainly a soft spot for him on radio which I am sure was his in with BC, but how the market reacts will be tellings... has he been gone from the Brisbane radio market too long, or just long enough to be missed?

How would Stav and Kat work

How would Stav and Kat work as an on air team

I'm not sure; but I am sure

I'm not sure; but I am sure that somebody should give Katrina a fulltime gig.

I am a former Cage listener,

I am a former Cage listener, who now listens to 4BC of a morning.

A Kuttsy classic, for the

A Kuttsy classic, for the final time at http://showbritz.debritz.net

For a Cage listener to be moving to a AM station, that anonymous commenter, Brett has proven Jamie Dunn right. I guess, Ian Skippen is sitting in a corner, sucking his thumb (while looking at his new female offsider, EJOK) and rocking.

That listener is not just tuning in for Dunn. Remember who's reading the news, Mr T (for those younger listeners, I was referring to Rod Tiley, who once did B'fst on the old FM104 many years ago.)

It is refreshing to see more FM listeners going to AM. So what if its not in stereo, digital radio starts in May, and will improve the sound quality of AM two fold.

It will be an interesting

It will be an interesting year, and I will be commenting on the radio scene over at debritz.net, but it will take me a while to get it up to speed.
Thanks for all your contributions, and please keep them coming at the new address.

I won't listen to Triple M.

I won't listen to Triple M. I don't feel that listeners were actually given a voice in choosing Sami's replacement. 'EJOK' is an annoyance to say the least.

I don't really like the new

I don't really like the new Cage team, I will be giving Jamie and Courtney a listen.

Kuttsy, obviously one of

Kuttsy, obviously one of those AM stereo nerds, is way off the mark.

#1.. Digital will be a massive non event, initially. Until AM and FM are switched off, the majority of people will hang back. Look how long it's taken for digital tv. It also depends on the content being produced... somehow I don't think 4BC/4BH will bat up much.

#2 After listening this week, unfortunately Jamie is not much without Skippen. I wanted to hear more and looked forward to it.... but alas, Jamie needs Skippen, more than Skippen needs Jamie.

#3 Skip is not worried at all...

#4 97.3 should be sitting in the corner rocking...

Keep the debate coming....

Jamie has realised that

Jamie has realised that doing talk is not as easy as he thought. Did anyone notice that courtney is now being quiet? The complaints were to big to ignore. Some of the agro to the rescue are ones previously used on Zinc. As for the skits, it makes how green is my cactus look like cutting edge humour. Also the News Director is now coming on at 6:30am to give the show some news cred. And one last thing, at 8:30am jamie has a segment called hard talk (this is to keep listeners from switching over to 612abc) but he interviewed Gibbo from agros cartoon connection about the good old days. Great guy but hard talk????? the two winners here will be 612 and sunrise not 97.3 as 4bc's target audience is the 55+ females....

I Believe the Jamie Dunn

I Believe the Jamie Dunn breakfast show's let's say lack of charisma can be attributed to 4bc management. it seems as though they wanted a new format, took the plunge then got cold feet. now the want they're usual breakfast show with Jamie's name on it, what were they expecting boring mornings with Jamie Dunn?. Did they even listen to B105 or Zinc? more so zinc as it is a more mature minded station. As for Courtney it was nice to hear a female voice on such a male dominated station, but that disappeared after the first day (Minus the time calls) so it comes across more of a management decision rather than listeners complaints, she was very popular with the Zinc. let's face it [name edited] is a dinosaur, girls are there to look pretty and fetch coffee, not do man's work like talk on radio! Clearly the show is being stifled as this new program has NONE of the Jamie of old, i'm not sure they realised who they hired.

The reason Talk is a male

The reason Talk is a male dominated arena is that women just don't like women on the air and I know from experince as I worked in talk for many years. And as the target audience is 55+ females, management had to listen. Do you really think retired or close retired listeners are going to want the opinions of a 20 something young woman? Of course not. It's probably the same as having a 50+ female on the cage, the listeners wouldn't warm to it. The problem is 4BC management for sure and let me tell you they're worried, the GM is extremely concerned. BTW I hope Courtney does well in radio, this experience will help her mature and grow for the future.

Management definately has

Management definately has had a hand to play in Courtney being told to be quiet. How ridiculous. Did they not know who they signed up? did they not listen to zinc. What a bunch off arrogant old [censored]. Bring back the real show where Jamie Ian and Courtney can all talk...and they dont sound so scripted. Managemant are clearly out of touch.

I agree! Courtney is one of

I agree! Courtney is one of the most interesting people I have heard on radio. Give this team a fair chance to show they can do well.

not gonna happen. I'm

not gonna happen. I'm hearing they only have a few weeks left before a replacement show is introduced.

A replacement show already?

A replacement show already? Not true mate... As for the above comment 'one of the most interesting people I have heard on radio' - who are you? her mum??

The show will have a full year to prove itself... it will be tough though!

we will see then, won't we?

we will see then, won't we? I'd hate to be the man that hired them as his days are numbered. March is what I'm hearing...

Didn't you read yesterday's

Didn't you read yesterday's Courier Mail? I'm sure it said that Dunn will be on breakfast for the year. So he's not great, but neither is MMM. He is easier to tolerate than the laugh & comments of the silly woman on The Cage.

March eh? I'd be getting

March eh? I'd be getting better sources for my gossip if I were you - or is 'Barry' who works at the corner store?

4bc must be getting

4bc must be getting desperate, for survey 2 they will be giving $7000 away every morning during breakfast. the promo all up totals $105,000 dollars. I wonder if Dunn would be here if they'd done this during survey 2 last year. really poor decision and the first survey will reflect that.
